Greyhound breeder starves four dogs to death
Tuesday 30th
FOUR dogs starved to death and two others suffered ‘gross neglect’ at the hands of their owner who left them in atrocious conditions for weeks.
Martin Carr – a greyhound breeder - admitted 10 charges of causing unnecessary suffering to the greyhounds and failing to ensure their welfare at a house in Harlaxton Road, Grantham.

Carr will be sentenced at on September 21 after reports are completed.

Trainers dogs test positive for Class A drugs
Disciplinary Hearings held by the Greyhound Board of Great Britain in July sees three trainers found in breach of Racing Rules following the production of positive samples from dogs racing on licensed tracks.
Traces of chrystal meth were found in a urine sample produced 'Steer Me Home' and morphine was found to be present in 'Big Chips' urine sample.

Mr Puddy was severely reprimanded and leniently fined £750 - whilst Mr Rae received only a caution.

Trainer arrested and skips bail
Saturday 20th
Following a police raid where 1600 cannabis plants were seized at a GBGB licensed racing kennel near Guildford - around 80 greyhounds were abandoned to live in filth and squalor.
Although trainers and owners have since removed the young healthy dogs still capable of racing – they leave behind and abandon for the second time -16 older and injured dogs. It's left to a local rescue centre - Celia Cross Greyhound Trust - to step in and take into care the remaining dogs - many needing extensive veterinary care.
The rescue centre are now desperately in need of extra funds - donations and volunteers to cope with the dogs on going care and rehabilitation until loving homes can be found.

Cable thieves hit Easington independent dog track
Friday 19th
Easington dog track were forced to cancel a race night after metal thieves ripped out power cables - causing thousands of pounds worth of damage.
Joe - who has run the site for the last 17 years - said of the thieves “They’re scum, that’s what I’d describe them as.

Rival Stow bid 'is not a formal planning application'

The Dogs Trust - League Against Cruel Sports and now Waltham Forest Council dispel SOS propaganda. It is the second time the council has had to issue a public statement through the Waltham Guardian following claims made by the Save Our Stow campaign.

Following a relentless international campaign to stop the legalising of greyhound racing in South Africa – a government commission has concluded “There’s a strong lobby around dog racing, but it is a very small sector. Given the limited demand and the problems associated with it, we did not think it should be legalised” Read more HERE

Greyhound Trainer Banned from keeping animals after giving dogs Viagra and cannabis

Anthony Fowler who ran his dogs on one of the few unlicensed tracks has been banned from keeping dogs for life. Unlike the licensed industry who only enforce the Rules of Racing – Fowler was subject to prosecution under the Animal Welfare Act in a court of law for two counts of administering a ‘poisonous or injurious drug or substance’ and two counts of causing unnecessary suffering. Welfare groups downplay Stow racing bid involvement

The Walthamstow Guardian has published statements for the Dogs Trust and the League Against Cruel Sports dismissing claims by the Save Our Stow campaign and MP Stella Creasy that they were effectively condoning the re-opening of Walthamstow dog track and working with the Save Our Stow campaign on welfare issues.

Greytexploitations publishes an article highlighting the inherent cruelty greyhounds endured before Walthamstow dog track was closed and the cruelty that still exists in order for greyhound racing to sustain commercial viability – together with an appeal asking greyhound advocates to contact Waltham Forest Council, MP’s and Ministers highlighting why the re-opening of Walthamstow should not be supported.
