ShowMe TheBunny’s Kennels
Saturday 15th
Many thanks to everyone who wrote to the BBC in support of the dogs and complained regarding their promotion of greyhound racing and the gambling on dogs to a national audience.
The standard reply from the BBC was - in our opinion - at best non factual and at worst condescending.
The BBC stated ShowMe TheBunny ‘is not owned by the programme or the BBC, it is owned by the British Greyhound Board’.
We are not familiar with an organisation called the British Greyhound Board and doubt it even exists.
However in compliance with the Rules of Racing – the name of the owner or lessee of a greyhound must be published in the race card and in the race card for September 23rd - the owner/lessee of Showme Thebunny is clearly listed as ‘Kicking Off With Colin Murray’.

Further proof of ownership – if ever it was needed - can be found on Sheffield dog track’s Blog - which states “Colin Murray, a sports presenter on BBC Radio Five Live, has taken ownership of one of our greyhounds”
So we sent investigators along to ShowMe TheBunny’s kennels in South Yorkshire to see the canine star’s home and to evidence the grim reality of a self regulated industry failing to enforce the most basic environmental legislation.

Please ask this Mayor to care!
The Mayor of Wolverhampton - Councillor Bert Turner – is hosting and inviting people to join in a fund raising Christmas party night out at Monmore dog track Wolverhampton on December 1st.
Please email the Mayor and ask him politely to cancel the event – explaining that the gambling on dogs depends on inherent cruel practices for its survival.

Puppy destroyed during Sky’s live coverage of greyhound racing
Wednesday 12th
A young black and white dog with the betting name of New Phase is destroyed during Sky’s live coverage of the All England Cup at Newcastle dog track.
Not an unusual event by any means – but the poster barely draws breath before he announces how well another dog ‘in his care’ – Ayamzagirl - competes in a later race.

Evidence if ever there was – that the owner shows no Duty of Care – an offence under the Animal Welfare Act – towards Ayamzagirl and knowingly puts her life at risk where less than an hour before New Phase sustains a treatable injury but yet the decision is taken to destroy him.
New Phase was less than two years old and had only been raced five times for his ‘owner’

Not just anybody could pull this off but Annie Boddey did!

Huge thanks to ITV and the Alan Titchmarsh Show for giving national TV coverage to the plight of the greyhounds.
Recognising racing greyhounds are a breed of dog that go ‘unaccounted for’ in their thousands each and every year - ITV invite onto the show Annie Boddey founder of Action For Greyhounds and Snoopy - an adorable rescued greyhound in search of his forever loving home.
Credit where credits due – please email ITV and Alan Titchmarsh and thank them for their support for the greyhounds

Are you a tax payer subsidising greyhound racing?
Sunday 2nd
Please read these appeals from Greyhound Compassion and GREY2K USA.
Please email the Irish government – your MP and MEP and sign the petition opposing your taxes being used to subsidise greyhound racing in Ireland and the possible funding of the development of greyhound racing in China by the Irish Greyhound Board.
A tribute to Ly Schumacher
It is with great sadness that we have to announce the passing of Ly Schumacher and her dear friend Jill Stanley ~ two women who sacrificed so much of their lives for the protection of greyhounds and galgos.
Please take time to read a tribute to Ly in our ‘In Remembrance’ area
In memory of Ly – Jill and those friends who are no longer with us ~ we have made a video which we hope will inspire you to continue to work until all are free……….
