ACTION FOR GREYHOUNDS

Action for Greyhounds hits the

 'Airwaves'

Annie Boddey from Action for Greyhounds UK, graced the studios of Future Radio in Norfolk yesterday, along with five of her rescued greyhounds and did a magnificent job of raising awareness.

Radio presenter, Tim Macwilliam had met Annie at one of her leafleting stalls and invited her onto the program to talk about the welfare issues surrounding greyhound racing.

Although Tim had contacted Yarmouth Stadium and various industry organisations to contribute to the program, none of them acknowledged Tim’s request, let alone accepted Tim's invitation.

However, a retired trainer did contact the studio during the broadcast and confessed how professional trainers were reluctant to pay the local RGT branch £100 re-homing fee, when faced with the prospect of having to pay thousands of pounds for the  greyhounds they retire annually.

Unchallenged, Annie spoke freely and from the heart, promoting greyhounds as companion animals and rightfully declaring it is unethical to euthanase a healthy, greyhound, young or old, simply because they cannot earn its keep.

Please also take five minutes of your time to thank Tim Macwilliam for inviting Annie to speak for the voiceless and raise awareness of the exploitative racing industry.

YOU BET - THEY DIE

CAMPAIGN TAKES TO THE SKY

On August 8th, Annie Boddey not only had to overcome the anxiety of her first ever flight but she also had to bravely skydive in an attempt to raise much needed funds in aid of Action For Greyhounds UK.

Low cloud prevented the scheduled take off but as soon as the clouds broke, it was up, up and away, eventually climbing to 12,000 feet.

As she leapt into the sky, Annie screamed 'GREYHOUND POWER' whilst freefalling at 120 m.p.h.

Annie said “I focused on the hundreds of thousands of greyhounds who have been needlessly bred, abused, and slaughtered at the hands of the greyhound racing industry and just knew, if there was any justice in this world, I would land safely to continue the greyhound protection campaign”

Annie has been pledged over a thousand pounds already, which will go towards the treatment and re-homing of many ex-racing greyhounds which come to her in appalling conditions and to also fund the Action For Greyhounds ‘Awareness’ stalls.

Annie also sends a big THANK YOU to everyone who supported and sponsored her.
