China Crisis for Greyhounds - Voices needed World Wide!
The wonderful Maria Daines has made a video to inspire us all to continue to do whatever we can to prevent the IGB developing commercial greyhound racing in China.
The Dogs Who Run For Their Lives

Investigative journalist Simon Parry has written an explosive article – cataloguing the cruelty and systematic destruction of greyhounds at Macau’s dog track.
During the lengthy investigation – Simon witnesses the dismal existence greyhounds are confined to during their short term of usefulness and talks to Dr Choi who has sole responsibility for the destruction of greyhounds once they can no longer perform for the betting industry.
Interviews with Animal Asia’s British based Welfare Director David Neale and PETA’s Rebecca Chiu – offer professional opinions of how greyhounds – if introduced to mainland China – would at best be euthansed and at worst endure a torturous death because they would still hold commercial value for the dog fur industry and meat markets as soon as they were deemed to slow to race.

Please click here to read this disturbing report and why the IGB’s proposal to introduce greyhound racing to China would be seen as a ruthless and callous move – the IGB showing no mercy whatsoever for these gentle creatures.

Following a meeting between the Minister of State Shane McEntee and the Irish Greyhound Board it has been decided that the export of greyhounds from Ireland to China will not take place in the near future but that the Board should continue to explore the possibility of developing the proposal to assist in the management of greyhound racing in China.
